I was born and raised in Milano, Italy. As A little girl I was very flexible in
my hips and legs. I used to climb on trees in our backyard and my family used to
call me “little monkey”. At age 6 I started figure roller skating which I continued
until I got to compete in the regional championship. After that I switched to ice
skating. At 8 I also started swimming pretty consistently. It is at 10 that I had
my first encounter with Yoga. I used to watch my mom dressed in long black leotards
doing stretching poses with a book in front of her. I asked her what it was and
she said . . . MORE

I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. I was not a good athlete when I was a kid. I would spend my time drawing pictures and reading books instead. I played a little tennis and learned how to swim, but I did not really like sports. I came to the U.S. in 2002 to learn English. When I was in college in 2005, my friend asked me to take a Bikram Yoga class. That was the beginning of a big change in my life.. . . . MORE

All throughout my childhood I was active in sports, particularly soccer and running. While those are both great activities, building strength and endurance, by the time I went to college, I was quite stiff and I had developed some physical issues. By then, I probably hadn’t touched my toes with my legs straight since I was 10 years old. I also began getting headaches several times a week. I decided I needed to explore other methods of physical activity that incorporated more stretching and more of a total body and mind approach. I bought a couple of books on yoga and attempted to do the postures on my own, but I didn’t really know what I was doing. . . . MORE

I was born in Tokio and moved to Osaka, Japan at the age of 7. I came to Los Angeles to study Communication at the University of Southern California and took my first Bikram Yoga class in October of 2002 at Bikram’s Headquarters in L.A. My friend from college had been talking about this “hot yoga” she loved, and she insisted that I come to class with her. Just as she warned me, the room was hot, I was sweating like crazy, and I looked so awkward next to all the flexible yogis in the room. I don’t remember too much about that first class, but what I do remember is the amazing feeling I had afterwards. . . . MORE

I attended my first Bikram yoga class in the winter of 2001 in Tulsa, OK where I was living at the time. I was dancing with an arts education group and had been very interested in starting yoga for a couple of years. I was very intimidated to start, but when I finally went, my first class was fantastic! I loved the challenge, the discipline and intensity of it. It took me a while to really get a steady practice going. At first I went a few times a month, then once a week then twice. I later realized that, by taking more classes each week, it was getting easier and I was feeling better and better. . . . MORE

In the late 70’s I was studying to become a mime in Milan, Italy.
The first half of the class was always the same: moving and stretching every part the body, from the muscles of our eyes to the phalanges of our toes. As we were getting warmer and more flexible, in the second half, we were using the increased awareness of our body to put it into strange shapes and unusual sequences of motions. It was basically . . . MORE
